Pursue Passion & Purpose During A Pandemic
This might seem like the weirdest time to “find yourself”, but why not? These days, we’re either out of a job, or working 2 jobs or forced to take a pay cut. Most of us don’t have the mental luxury of sleeping in, watching TV or playing video games all day without guilt. I wouldn’t call myself an expert in the field of mental health field, but on the other hand, I certainly am an expert because of past experiences and watching others deal with their mental anguish. During our stay-at-home orders, we’re discovering how much we used to mask and hide regarding our happiness and sadness, and now the cards are on the table, we’re exploring how to go after our passion and find our purpose because everything up until this point was a lie regards to our choices.
Let’s discuss bad choices! Are they really bad choices if you took a shot or stab at it? If we had the balls to try something and it didn’t end up as planned, is it a lose, or is it a win just for trying? My daughter and I have frequent candid conversations about winning and losing and our last conversation was pretty deep, and I’d love to share it.
“It’s not the most exciting feeling to have, but you must know what the true essence of losing or failing feels like. We’ve all said or referenced that if we had enough money our problems would dissolve, but in essence only half of our problems would go away because being born filthy rich means you’re going to have extremely poor coping skills and those emotions to compassionate to others while they’re in pain is truly a gift. Losing and failing can be a good thing when you live to tell the story on the other side”.
The moral to this entire rant I’m on is, that if you feel like a loser, embrace it. Roll around in your losing state of mind for a minute and I guarantee you’ll know when and how to hop out of it.
Now, I said all that to say, go after something today, or tomorrow or this weekend that brings you some kind of joy! Once comes joy, then comes passion, and somehow your purpose surfaces in the process, but have some fun as you soul search in your pursuit of passion and purpose and I’ll see you on the other side of this pandemic.
