Lincoln County Official Gets Cited For Blatantly Ignoring NC Stay-At-Home Order
What happens when you as a business owner deliberately goes against a state government order, ultimately violating the order? Just ask the Lincoln County Board of Commissioners Chair Carrol Mitchem.
Not only did Mitchem defy North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper’s Phase 1 orders, but he did it openly and blatantly, even using social media to advertise. Mitchem owns and operates Mitchem’s Kitchen in Vale, NC and posted on his Facebook page that the dining area of his restaurant would be open this week – a clear violation of the Executive Order that states no indoor dining is allowed at restaurants.
Mitchem did open his restaurant on Monday (May 18) with indoor -dining. In fact, according to WBTV, Mitchem had received complaints from the public. There was an investigation and the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office had no problem citing Mitchem for openly violating North Carolina Executive Order 138.
Mitchem is scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 9.
