North Carolina Restaurant Reopens Mile High in the Mountains
Now, I am sure the title is a little confusing. I was not sure what this meant either for a second, but yes – a mile high restaurant is open in the North Carolina mountains. Located at Mount Mitchell State Park, you can now dine in at Mount Mitchell Café & Eatery, one of the highest restaurants in North Carolina. Now, when we say high, we’re talking elevation.
The restaurant is located on Mount Mitchell which has a peak at 6,684 feet and is deemed one of the tallest mountains east of the Mississippi River. The restaurant went through a five-year, $2.7 million renovation in order to pull off the build. While dining at the restaurant, visitors are able to enjoy a great meal with insane, panoramic views.
Mount Mitchel Cafe & Eatery will be open 7 days a week between the months of May and October but will be closed during the winter months. In the first month of business after its reopening in May, the restaurant made an overwhelming $80,000 in sales.
Where in the North Carolina Mountains?
You can visit the restaurant this summer about 30 miles northeast of Asheville and it’s only accessible from the Blue Ridge Parkway by taking N.C. 128 at Milepost 355 to the summit. Now, would I be up in the mountains this year to give this spot a try? No, but I am a little bit interested in how it would be. Although, it does slightly scare me as well.
Menu Options
Their menu features hand-crafted, gourmet sandwiches and salad options for people to enjoy. Enjoy menu options such as a vegetarian black bean burger, chicken salad croissant, adult grilled cheese, and even a chicken, bacon, and ranch sandwich. Woah, now this menu is starting to call my name a little bit. You can also munch on gourmet soups and salads like loaded potato soup, tomato basil bisque, and a sweet berry salad. YUMMM!
