I’m in my mid 50’s and I like to look at this as the second half of my life. Life has been colorful. I’ve had adventure, met with the unexpected and gone to places most haven’t. And I’ve had some bumps in the road, too. Nonetheless, there are some basics I wanted to have accomplished by the time I turned 40.

  There comes a time in life where you accept the time you have to spend waiting. However, you’ll also learn that ‘waiting’ can become more annoying the older you get. The last place you want to spend ‘waiting’ is the airport. Go ahead and suck of the $85 bucks and skip the long wait, jump to the shorter line, and keep your shoes on during security check. That’s the cost of TSA Pre-check. It’s worth it.

  Getting older requires more rest and I’ve personally found there’s nothing wrong with a quick nap. And according to the Mayo Clinic , to get the best results about 10 to 20 minutes and only in the early afternoon can do the trick.

• Start taking vitamin D.

  

  Most people have some sort of Vitamin D deficiency. Vitamin D is needed to renew cells as well as absorb calcium.  Have your doctor check your vitamin D levels and recommend a dosage. Vitamin D with a meal can enhance its absorption and increase blood levels more efficiently.

• Make a will.

   

  Many Americans don’t have a will, and if they should die unexpectedly, a probate court makes all the financial decisions on their behalf. Don’t be that person. Call a lawyer and get the wheels in motion.

• Install money-saving apps.

  Though they can cure that yearning — the chips, the lunch meat, the hot dogs. But, it’s not the best healthy alternative. Unfortunately, the body just isn’t able to manage or process all the chemicals created to make a potato chip.
