Kanye West Compares Drake to Steph Curry in Grammy Afterparty Interview
At a Grammy Awards afterparty in Los Angeles, Kanye West teased details about his upcoming “The Download” interview with Justin Laboy. He raised eyebrows by comparing Drake’s musical talent to NBA superstar Stephen Curry. “You can’t ever count out Steph Curry. That man might get 200 points in one song,” West told Laboy.
While Kendrick Lamar took home five Grammy Awards – including top prizes for “Not Like Us” – West stirred things up by hinting his former rival might make a comeback.
The comment adds tension to the ongoing beef between Lamar and the Toronto rapper. Their rivalry started in 2007 when a chance meeting in Wyoming kicked off years of conflict.
West highlighted three influential figures in music: Drake, Future, and Kendrick Lamar. He says these artists have changed how musicians create music today.
The tension between West and Drake exploded in 2018, reaching its worst point when West shared Drake’s address on social media.
From Lamar’s camp, Ab-Soul backed West’s take on Drake’s possible return. Industry insiders are watching closely as these top artists take shots at each other.
In between discussing rivalries, West slipped in news about “Bully” – his first album since recent controversies – dropping June 15.
As far as comebacks are concerned, Drake is about to drop a joint album with PartyNextDoor which many are thinking will be his return following the success of Lamar’s, Not Like Us. But, we’ll see.
