Charlotte Hornets Name Charles Lee As Head Coach
Charlotte Hornets fans will see a new face on the sidelines this year. Charles Lee signed a 4-year deal to serve as the head coach for our home team.
According to the Charlotte Hornets Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations, Jeff Peterson, “We are excited to welcome Charles Lee as the head coach of Charlotte Hornets. His high character and his ability to connect with players while also instilling a culture of accountability will serve us well as we construct a competitive team built for long-term success.”
Lee started his coaching career in 2012 at his alma mater, Bucknell University. After playing two years of international professional basketball, Lee served as the Assistant Coach of the Atlanta Hawks from 2014 – 2018. He then joined the coaching staff for the Milwaukee Bucks in 2018, before moving to becoming the top Assistant Coach for the Boston Celtics in the summer of 2023.
Lee replaces Steve Clifford as the Charlotte Hornets Head Coach, who stepped down at the end of the season to move into a front-office role. He will continue his playoff run with the Celtics before starting with the Hornets on a full-time basis.
Welcome to the Queen City Charles Lee!
