VIDEO: Marvin Gaye Impersonator Sings Classics To Get Female Monkeys In The Mood To Mate
It seems the music of Motown’s Marvin Gaye really can offer some ‘sexual healing’ — even for monkeys. Officials at The Trentham Monkey Forest in Stafford, England have hired a Marvin Gaye impersonator to sing some of Gaye’s classics with hopes of getting the monkeys in the mood for breeding.
Zoo officials say it is mating season, however, the females don’t appear to be in the mood. They say mating is important as the Barbary macaques (monkeys) are considered endangered. The park director says they wanted to come up with a creative way to encourage female monkeys to show affection to males. And their tactic may be working. Zoo officials say the animals have engaged in some foreplay like grooming and teeth chattering.
The goal, of course, is to welcome new babies in the late spring or early summer.
And in case you didn’t know, female monkeys typically mate with several males, so paternity is never known.
