Little Mermaid and Wizardy Themed Cocktail Experiences Popping in Charlotte in March
Written by Mallory Moreno
There’s a seemingly endless amount of places to grab a cold cocktail in Charlotte. Every once in a while, pop-up cocktail bars swing through the city to offer locals a unique drinking experience different than the norm. Two immersive themed pop-ups are coming to Charlotte this spring and you’re going to want to put them under your radar.
The Little Mermaid
For those who have always adored the under-the-sea fairytale, “The Little Mermaid” (not the Disney film, but the Hans Christian Andersen story), mark your calendars for March 24th. The Little Mermaid Cocktail Experience is a 90-minute immersive pop-up that will be held at a “secret, magical location beneath the waves in Charlotte.”
The pop-up cocktail experience includes a theatrical performance of Hans Christian Andersen’s “The Little Mermaid” which follows a young mermaid visiting “the world above” for her first time. Guests are encouraged to dress up in their own under-the-sea-inspired costumes when they come to enjoy fairytale-crafted cocktails with other enchanting characters from the underwater kingdom.
As for the cocktails themselves, guests will have three vodka, gin, or rum-based options – The Enemy’s Anemone, Wicked Undertow, and A Pearl of the Sea. Non-alcohol versions of each drink are also are available.
The Little Mermaid cocktail experience has already made appearances in Chicago, Miami, and London. Philadelphia, Nashville, and Charolette are its next three stops with tickets in Nashville and Philly already waitlisted. Guests who previously attended the event in these cities describe the pop-up as a “one of a kind experience.” One review reads: “The event was great. The performers brought a ton of talent and enthusiasm to the performance. The entire staff was fun and attentive. The theming was immersive and the drink selection was wonderful.”
The Little Mermaid Cocktail Experience runs from Thursdays through Sundays through April 10. The “secret location” will be revealed to ticket holders sometime before the event. Tickets are on sale now and start at $59 a person. You can view photos from previous Little Mermaid pop-ups on their Instagram page, here.
The Boozy Cauldron Pop-Up
For those looking for an extra magical experience, The Boozy Cauldron pop-up is happening in Charolette from March 10th through the 13th at The Palmer Building downtown.
This pop-up is a 4-part immersive experience featuring four signature cocktails (including the Tavern’s Famous Butternilla Brew). Similar to The Little Mermaid pop-up, the experience includes a show led by Professor Dolohov Draven and his top students who are described on the website as, “cocktail wizards.” Guests will “journey into a wizarding universe” and hear all about the stories surrounding the famous tavern and the ghosts that still haunt the establishment. General admission tickets are $55 for adults 21 and up and include entry to the experience as well as the four signature cocktails.
