Charlotte Scooters, You Need to See This New Feature
Remember when all those scooters were parked EVERYWHERE in the Queen City? I do and it was straight-up awful. But now, our city is piloting e-scooter corrals.
What is a corral? Well, simply its a place where riders are supposed to park their Lime, Bird, or Spin scooters after each use. This is an effort to help scooters from being parked on the sidewalks, in front of your parking spots and frankly, where they shouldn’t be.
Green markers painted on the ground designate where the corrals are. CDOT officially made the first scooter corral in front of the Charlotte Mecklenburg Government Center on Davidson Street Uptown. The other spots around the QC are Third and Church, 15th and North Davidson, South Boulevard and Carson, Fourth and South Mint and On Camden in front of Dimensional Place.
CDOT’s goal is to pilot 25 corrals this year. Personally, I think this is a great idea for our city.
Park Your Wheels! Scooter corrals are coming to 6 convenient Uptown locations. Here’s a first look at the test location on South Davidson Street near the Charlotte Mecklenburg Government Center. #ScooterSafety #NRDC #SafetyFirst @BloombergCities pic.twitter.com/83GTclES1h
