Lake Hickory Haunts continues to impress me with its haunted trail and this was my second time experiencing it. My favorite part of the season is visiting haunted attractions. Getting scared on purpose just for fun is something my significant other and I enjoy. Over the course of my lifetime, I’ve been to at least 20 different haunts, so I’ve seen both the good and the bad. As I have grown older, detail has become increasingly important to me. When it comes to haunted attractions, inferior animatronics, décor, and horror makeup are less of an adrenaline rush and more of a letdown.

Our trip was on a Sunday, as it was last year as well. Visiting the attraction on Sunday was due to my fear of waiting too long. Getting to the attraction is not difficult; it is about an hour and a half away from Charlotte center city. After you get your ticket, you are given a pass with your serial killer group name on it. This is only if you do General Admission. This year, we chose to go the Fast Pass route. I highly recommend doing so. You don’t have to wait to be called to head to the haunted trail line so you can take your time enjoying the Midway. You can play games, eat food, and even try out an escape.

  • You Get To See Vecna

Lake Hickory Haunts is known for its decor. There are some fun photo opportunities, scare actors, a food stall, and a VIP lounge in the first waiting area. Furthermore, there is a giant fire pumpkin where you can warm up. After your killer’s name is called, you move on to the next section with even more heart-pounding action. Again, if you get a VIP or Fast Pass you don’t have to wait.

  • The Scares

The amount of work that goes into creating these spooky spots always amazes me. Lake Hickory Haunts, in my opinion, is the best-haunted attraction I’ve ever visited. The experience is enhanced by a lot of attention to detail, both large and small. I won’t spoil everything for you, but the Lake Hickory Haunts was fantastic! Invasion of the aliens, animatronic clown, and spooky graveyards were some of my favorite parts.
