Earth Day is officially observed in the United States each year on April 22nd. And this weekend there will be Earth Day events in Charlotte for you and your family to enjoy. Earth Day was established to mark the anniversary of the birth of the modern environmental movement in 1970. More than 50 years later it is celebrated worldwide as a day of education, advocacy, clean up, and more.

According to EarthDay.Org the mission of the 2024 Earth Day is a “commitment to end plastics for the sake of human and planetary health, demanding a 60% reduction in the production of ALL plastics by 2040″.

Each year Earth Day serves as a reminder of the importance of environmental conservation and sustainability. As well as the need for the world to join forces for a healthier planet now and in the future. The hope is to continue to draw awareness and educate the population on the seriousness of creating a more sustainable planet.

Cities and towns across the world will host events designed to advance these objectives. Which of course means there are Earth Day events in Charlotte. And while the official holiday is April 22nd, since that’s a Monday most of these events are taking place this weekend.

So keep reading to learn about 3 family-friendly Earth Day events in Charlotte taking place this weekend. Two are on Sunday and one on Saturday. In fact, you can attend all three FREE events if you so choose!
