CMA CGM Announces Inaugural Call at Port of Wilmington in North Carolina
According to a recent press release, the CMA CGM Group, a world leader in shipping and logistics, will make an inaugural call at North Carolina’s Port of Wilmington in March with the CMA CGM COLUMBA. The vessel will be deployed between China, South Korea, and the U.S. East Coast. This is part of the Group’s efforts to help its U.S. customers during a time when global supply chains have been stressed.
In total, this extra loader will transport roughly 10,500 TEUs (Twenty-Foot Equivalent Units) of commodities including furniture, household goods, consumer products, and construction tools between Asia and the East Coast. A variety of CMA CGM solutions have been implemented to increase supply chain velocity since the start of the pandemic. The company increased deployed capacity in the United States by more than 27% year-over-year in 2021 and expects an additional 16% increase in 2022.
Recently, the Group announced the Early Container Pickup Incentive Program on the West Coast at the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach to eliminate port congestion and recently purchased the Fenix Marine Services (FMS) terminal at the Port of Los Angeles. CMA CGM AIR CARGO and CEVA Logistics are two of the company’s subsidiaries that offer end-to-end customer solutions.
