Harlem Officially Declares June 1st ‘Nipsey Hussle Appreciation Day’
June 1 has officially become “Nipsey Hussle Appreciation Day” in the village of Harlem, New York.
On Saturday, June 1, the Representative of the Thirteenth Congressional District of New York in the 116th Congress declared June 1 “Nipsey Hussle Appreciation Day” alongside a “Team Hussle” vs. “Team Motivate” Celebrity Allstar Basketball Game at Rucker Park to celebrate the slain rapper.
The celebrity all-star basketball game was a nod to Hussle’s song “Hussle & Motivate” from his last album, Victory Lap.

In April, the city of Los Angeles honored the LA rapper with a memorial basketball court at the Crete Academy in Hyde Park, and Los Angeles Councilman Marqueece Harris-Dawson introduced legislation to rename Crenshaw and Slauson after Nipsey Hussle’s given-name, Ermias Joseph Asghedom.
The “Victory Lap” rapper was fatally shot on Mar. 31 in South Los Angeles outside of his apparel store, The Marathon Clothing.
