Kanye West Slams Grammys Snub, Faces Backlash Over Antisemitic Rant and Controversial Red Carpet Exit
At the Grammy Awards this year, Kanye West and Bianca Censori were left out of the main show. Even though West was up for Best Rap Song, he says that he couldn’t get seats inside the venue.
The show’s producer, Raj Kapoor, told People Magazine why the two weren’t seated. Since they weren’t performing or presenting awards, they didn’t make the cut for seating.
Clearly annoyed, West jumped on social media to document his five-hour hunt for tickets. He only got access to walk the red carpet, while his track “Carnival” lost to Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” in the rap category.
After their red carpet appearance, West engaged in controversial online behavior, including an antisemitic rant and comments defending Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, who faces sex trafficking charges.
The Crypto.com Arena has tight rules about seating, only giving spots to performers, presenters, and certain nominees. But the night had its bright spots – they raised $24 million for charity, with $9 million going to help LA fire victims.
The pair left after their brief red carpet appearance before the show started. Some people wrongly claimed they left because of Censori’s outfit.
West didn’t waste any time, dropping new merch on his Yeezy Supply website right after the show ended.
People close to the couple shot down rumors about their marriage problems. They made it clear any real news would come from West and Censori themselves, not through rumors.
This adds another chapter to West’s rocky history with award shows, which started when he jumped on stage during Taylor Swift’s speech at the 2009 VMAs.
