Lil Wayne Gets Backlash for Defending Bill Belichick’s Decision to Coach at UNC
Looks like Bill Belichick is getting some backlash for his decision to accept a coaching job at the University of North Carolina. On Thursday, it was announced that Belichick would become the new head coach for UNC and many took to social media to respond to the news.
Lil Wayne Congratulates Belichick
While many took to the internet to debate the decision, rapper Lil Wayne decided to defend Belichick and his decision to accept the coaching position. Lil Wayne took X to congratulate the legendary NFL coach on his new position.
Many took to the replies of Lil Wayne’s tweet to show the rapper some backlash in his support for Belichick. The backlash to Wayne is in reference to his support for Belichick but no support for Kendrick Lamar getting the Super Bowl Halftime Show.
Once the user replied to Wayne’s tweet stating, “But you ignored Kendrick and didn’t Say Nada! Even though you know he sees you as one of his idols!” Another responded with, “You can’t say that simple ‘congratulations’ to Kendrick though. Stop being a hypocrite. You’re too old for that”
The backlash comes due to Lamar gaining the halftime show in Wayne’s hometown, New Orleans for the Super Bowl and many expected Wayne to get that performance. But, when he did not, some were disappointed that he did not at least acknowledge Kendrick Lamar and show him love for the honor.
Previously, Wayne did admit that he was “hurt” by the decision of the league to not give him the halftime show in his hometown, but he did not openly acknowledge Lamar. In Kendrick’s new album, GNX, he has a lyric in his song to reference Wayne not acknowledging him and the backlash he also received for getting the performance.
