Drake Randomly Lands Cover Of Fly Fishing Magazine ‘The Drake’
It may seem out of left field, but it’s happening! Drake will grace the Fall cover of The Drake: For Those Who Fish, a magazine celebrating the art of fly fishing. The Denver-based publication revealed the rapper’s cover via Instagram, showing him standing in a river, decked out in fishing gear, rod in hand, and laser-focused.
The accompanying caption teases the upcoming issue: “Headed your way: The Babine, Boise, albies, musky, Champagne Papi, carp, Owyhee Canyonlands; backcountry Sierra, smallmouth; Susitna, South Carolina, sea-run brown trout, and the Atlantic salmon legacy of Bill Taylor.”
When Drake shared the cover on his Instagram, he wrote, “@thedrakemagazine come fly with me let’s fly to somewhere ill…if you can use some exotic booze there’s a bar in Chappell Hill.”
The comments section made the post even more fun. “We finally got THE drake on the drake magazine. what a time to be alive,” one fan wrote. Another chimed in, “Hold on is that the boy?” Some even bestowed new nicknames, with one dubbing him “Bass Master Drizzy,” another calling him “Drake by the LAKE!” and yet another going with “The Trout Papi.” But many couldn’t help but wonder, “Does Drake even fish?”
A fan also spotted a potential hidden gem. For those who love a good conspiracy theory: back in August, ASAP Rocky, discussing his beef with Drake, said, “I got bigger fish to fry.” Coincidence? Who knows!
Some speculate Drake’s fishing feature may be tied to a deeper dive into fashion. His OVO brand recently launched the “Hometown Heroes Collection,” which includes hoodies, tees, and jerseys repping the NBA’s Toronto Raptors and NHL’s Toronto Maple Leafs.
Drake’s been the Raptors’ Global Ambassador since 2013, a role he was pumped about from the start: “I’m extremely excited to finally be part of a team I grew up a die-hard fan of, I’m excited for the new vision.”
While details on the magazine’s release are still limited, you can either purchase the issue in their store when it’s available or subscribe for $38. The Drake, founded in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, in 1998, publishes quarterly, with the Summer and Spring 2024 issues already available for $15 each.
In other Drake new, Fashion Nova rolled out a hilarious “BBL Booty” costume that clearly nods to Metro Boomin’s “BBL Drizzy” diss. This costume features a butt pad designed to give your backside a boost, with the model rocking an outfit that perfectly replicates Drake’s look from the 8AM In Charlotte music video. Complete with colorful hair clips and a hoodie with “Papi” across the front.
