Uh-oh, looks like North Carolina is topping the lists yet again. As we continue through 2024 we want to see great things for all people. We have seen tons of lists come up about the best cities for vacation, the best cities for shopping, and so much more! Black Health Matters is gathering up some of the most important lists for us.

One of which is the newest list of the best cities for Black women in America. In this new year, many Americans are looking to start up new habits. Whether that is looking for new eating habits, giving up bad habits, or starting over in a brand new city. If you are one of those people interested in moving, then you may be doing some research to see what cities may be best for you. Well, as a black woman, this list I found quite intriguing. Black Health Matters gathered the top 10 cities in America that are great for black women. The cities on this list made the top as they are the best for black women's mental health, financial abilities, health conditions, and equal educational opportunities.

So, what cities made this list? Surprisingly, multiple North Carolina cities came up in the top 10. Not only were they in the top 10, but one city in particular also came in at #1. That's right, North Carolina is home to the #1 city in America for black women. Coming in at #10 is Charlotte, North Carolina. Next up, is Raleigh, North Carolina coming in at #6. Finally, the TOP city in the U.S. for black women is Greensboro, North Carolina at the #1 city for black women.

Black-owned restaurants are serving up some of the best cuisines across the country. Black-owned does not only mean soul food but there are a wide variety of black-owned restaurants across the country. From your favorite barbecue spots to pizza joints and so much more. Thrillist compromised a list of some of the best black-owned restaurants in the United States. That's right, the best black-owned restaurants all are on one list.

Nigel's Good Food

Now, as a girl born and raised in Charleston, Nigel's Good Food is one of those spots everyone enjoys. Since the day they opened, Nigel's has been serving up some of our favorites in Charleston. They have two different locations in the Charleston area and you can enjoy them both whenever you're in town. Their Geechie wings are one of the top-selling items we all love. Wings tossed in their signature Geechie sauce, nothing tastes better! You can also get favorites such as fried green tomatoes, creamy grits, chicken and waffles, fried shrimp, and MORE!

Bertha's Kitchen

Big, Bertha! Yeah, next time you are in Charleston take a trip to Bertha's Kitchen. This family owned spot is one of our favorites to enjoy. They are known for having some of the best fried chicken in the state of South Carolina. Yes, the entire state! The line is always long and the food is always good. You can enjoy some of Bertha's favorites like pork chops, collard greens, and your classic soul food favorites!

Rodney Scott’s Whole Hog BBQ

Now, if it's one spot we all know about whether you're in South Carolina or North Carolina is Rodney Scott's Whole Hog BBQ. He has been on many shows and brought attention to the great BBQ of South Carolina. Scott is known for having the BEST barbecue as he smokes his meat slow and low. You can also enjoy some of your favorite dishes like pork sandwiches, ribs, smoked wings, and so much more!
