I hope you had a great weekend and are ready for some spooky stuff.

There is weird stuff going on every day. Those are the things that make life interesting. October is the month of all things spooky so all month long we are bringing you the scariest facts we can find.

Seeing what happened in the past fascinates me. You might think I’m weird, but I find history interesting because of the weird and scary things that happen. Here are 5 of the weirdest and scariest facts for October 4th.

• The 1st Orient Express Official Trip

  Would you buy a ticket? On October 4th, 1883 The Orient Express departs on its first official journey from Paris to Istanbul. If you were fancy enough to enjoy, The Orient Express was synonymous with lavish train travel in the 1920s and 1930s.

• It’s Blue Shirt Day!

  If you cant figure out what to wear today, try a blue shirt. Blue Shirt Day, also known as World Day of Bullying Prevention, takes place on the first Monday of October each year. This kicks off National Bullying Prevention Month as well. Interestingly, blue is seen as a color of calmness, peace, confidence, and importance in many cultures. It also happens to be my favorite color!

• Mount Rushmore Begins!

  On October 4th, 1927 Gutzon Borglum begins sculpting Mt. Rushmore. Gutzon was an architect and sculptor. He worked on Mt. Rushmore until completing it in 1941! I find this artwork to be fascinating. The fact someone carved this from hand...my brain still can not comprehend it. I have yet to visit Mt. Rushmore but one day I will.
• Janis Joplin

  She was a singer was had an incredible voice and a fierce attitude. On October 4th, 1970 singer Janis Joplin was found dead. Her death was caused by an accidental overdose of heroin. My favorite song...sorry it has to be "Piece Of My Heart".

• Taco Day!

  Nom nom it's national taco day! It is held on October 1st. Today marks the 12th anniversary of National Taco Day. According to the Farmer’s Almanac, National Taco Day, which falls on Oct. 4 every year, was started in 2009 by the restaurant chain Del Taco.
