A $700,000 Lottery Ticket Sold Near Charlotte, But No Winner Hasn’t Come Forward Yet
If you bought a lottery ticket recently, you definitely should check your numbers, because you could have just won it big without knowing.
A lottery ticket worth nearly $700,000 was sold in Concord, NC last week. The winning Jackpot 7s ticket was sold Friday at the Circle K convenience store on Poplar Tent Road, 26 miles north of Charlotte, but a winner has still not come forward to claim their $691,417 prize (before state and federal taxes).
Winners have 180 days to claim their prize at any lottery office.
I didn’t know this but apparently is lottery prizes never get claimed, they get split in half and distributed between the Education Lottery Fund and the other half goes “to enhance prizes” in other lottery games, according to state law.
Lottery winners can either choose to get their money in one lump sum or to get payments across years with their winnings.
