GALLERY: Weekend Adventure to Historic Yates Mill County Park
A three day holiday weekend full of fireworks, laughs, masks, and this time a trip adventure to an old park.
To escape from the hardship of a workweek and COVID-19 talk, my significant other and I decided to take an afternoon adventure to Historic Yates Mill County Park. This park is a 174-acre wildlife refuge and an environmental research center located at 4620 Lake Wheeler Road in Raleigh, North Carolina.
The Mill was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974 and was restored to working order through a grassroots community effort by 2005. During our adventure, we walked the pond trail, got caught in the rain, saw a good six snakes (not shown below), and did some fly fishing. Overall, we had a great Sunday afternoon away from all the madness and I definitely recommend checking out this historic park if you are ever in the area. You can see more information on the park’s hours and programs here.
