What Should You Do If You Lose Your COVID-19 Vaccination Card?

Whether or not you support showing proof of vaccination it does seem that in at least some circumstances it's going to be required for the foreseeable future. There has been some talk of issues with fake cards lately, but what happens if you lose your covid-19 vaccination card?
First things first try to take precautions so that doesn't happen.
- Go ahead and make a copy or two of your card to have on hand just in case.
- Make sure to keep it in a secure location as well. If you have a file with important documents such as social security cards, passports, etc this is a good place to keep it.
- Laminate it if you have a way to do so. This will protect your card in case you were to spill something on it and make it sturdier.
But what happens if I lose my COVID-19 vaccine card?
We get it, accidents happen and things get lost. If you do lose your card there are a few options.
- Reach out to whomever you got your vaccine from. Providers like Walgreens and CVS will keep electronic records. If you have your ID they will be able to pull up your record.
- If you received your vaccine from the NC Department of Health and Human Services or any site run by the state you can log on to their website and view and print your card.
- Those who received vaccines from Atrium, Novant, or another local health care provider can log on to their patient sites and pull up the record there.
- You can also ask your provider to mail you a copy of your card, this could take up to a few weeks, however.
At the time I'm writing this, certain states are requiring proof of vaccination to do things like go to restaurants or the gym. International travel, as well as travel to Hawaii, requires it (or a negative test) as well. LiveNation has announced that artists will be able to decide if they want to require guests to be vaccinated or have a negative test. With the delta variant surging it seems like we could see more announcements like this in the coming weeks.
