Me of all people can tell you, finding love is a challenge. And I have said to my friends that my 'true love' likely is NOT in the Queen City. I've said Charlotte is NOT for those of us who are single. And according to a WalletHub survey, I am correct. Charlotte and several other cities in North Carolina are considered the worst cities for singles.

WalletHub looked at more than 180 U.S. cities. It used 36 key indicators to determine how well a city ranked for those of us who are single. The survey included factors like dating-friendliness, entertainment choices, online dating opportunities and even dating activities.

It also looked at a city's inflation rate. The report noted the average date costs over $90. That is on the high end for some. For example, 19% of the Gen Z generation admitted to going into debt just to go on a date; while 22% of millennials reported a date could put them in the red.

With that in mind, it pays to live in a city where dating activities like dining out or watching a movie won't have you breaking the bank.

The fact of the matter is, half of the adult population in the U.S is unmarried (meaning, never married, divorce or widowed), according to the latest U.S. Census Bureau. And the ratio of women to  men plays a factor depending upon the city in which you live.

If you're single and looking for love, these are some of the Best and Worst Cities for Singles, including four cities in North and South Carolina.

Seattle, WA (#1)

San Franciso, CA (#4)

Honolulu, HI (#8)

Reno, NV (#13)

Manchester, NH (#20)

Greensboro, NC (#164)

Winston-Salem, NC (#176)
