The countdown is on to when the smells and tastes of BBQ return to downtown Kannapolis. That’s right we are one week away from Jiggy with the Piggy! The festival runs from May 11 to May 15th.

Included in the festival is 50 barbeque competition teams. The BBQ teams hail from all regions of the country will compete for top bragging rights and of course some prize money. And if you want to taste all that delicious BBQ it’s just a $10 ticket. You’ll get 10 samples of delicious pork and then have the opportunity to cast a vote for your favorite!

What to Expect:

You can taste the competing team’s cooking expertise by purchasing a $10 ticket for the People’s Choice Pork Tasting Contest. Ticket holders will receive ten samples of pork and then cast your vote for the best one. You will want to hurry and get your tickets for this contest. The tasting takes place on Saturday and a limited number of tickets go on sale at 11:45 a.m. So get there early if you’re interested. The Pork Tasting Event is from noon- until 2 p.m. (or until the pork is gone).

Jiggy with The Piggy will also feature its signature free concert on Friday night. This year’s artist is Grammy Nominated and Multi-Platinum Country Artist Sammy Kershaw. The Louisiana native has had two number one hits: “She Don’t Know She’s Beautiful,” and “Love of My Life,” as well as a dozen Top Ten Singles.

There will also be more than 100 arts & crafts vendors, concerts, the Jiggy 5K walk/run, fireworks, and an exciting kid’s zone with a new ninja course. Rides are $2 each or $10 for a wristband. Kids and adults can also try out their axe throwing skills during the event.

The event is free to the public. They do ask that you leave your pets at home and that you refrain from smoking while enjoying the festival.
