His musical style is best described as a blend of soul (a genre - emerging from African-American community in the United States in the late 1950s and early 1960s - that combines elements of African-American gospel music, rhythm and blues and jazz) and neo soul (a style of music that emerged from soul and contemporary R&B but is distinguished by a less conventional sound and the presence of many other genres ranging from jazz, funk, and hip hop to pop, fusion, and African music). He released his debut album (Coming Home) in 2015 and it entered the US Billboard 200 chart at #6. It was supported by 2 hit singles (Coming Home and Smooth Sailin) and he performed them on many popular late-night talk shows including Saturday Night Live, Conan, and The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. He went on to have a stellar career with 2 studio albums, 1 extended play, 8 singles, 6 music videos, and he's collaborated with Dej Loaf, Lecrae Macklemore, Ryan Lewis, ODESZA, and Nick Waterhouse. He's also been nominated for a Grammy Award for Best R&B Album.
