Francene Marie interviews Principal Jennifer Wilson of West Lake Preparatory Academy, a K-8 charter school located in Denver, North Carolina. Her school received the Positive Culture Award at the management company’s national conference. During the 2020-2021 school year, she led her school through one of the most challenging times in history.
Her school offers a unique learning environment that promotes collaboration among students and teachers. Since she took over as leader in 2019, enrollment is expected to triple by the 2021/2022 school year. During the pandemic, her school offered full-time in-classroom instruction five days a week, a flexible learning approach and a fully mobile learning model based on parent choice.
