The holidays are upon us. The National Retail Federation predicts that consumers will spend between $979 and $989 billion on holiday shopping. But is it a happy time for everyone?
A 2021 survey by the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) found that 3 out of 5 Americans feel the holidays negatively impact their mental health. The holiday season can be stressful and lonely for people with mental health conditions or those who may have lost a loved one or the everyday person can get stressed out, too, and even depressed. The pressure to be joyful and social can be a bit much. How do we begin to navigate it? We talked to experts about how to mentally and physically manage holiday stress.
