May is Mental Health Awareness Month. It was started in 1949 by Mental Health America and is designed to highlight the importance of mental well-being, educate the public, reduce stigma, and promote support for those affected by mental health conditions. There are so many negative attitudes and misconceptions about mental health. The month of May is a time to encourage open conversation about mental illness.
What do we know about it? Having a mental illness IS NOT a DEATH SENTENCE. There IS recovery for mental illness. We are talking about that today.
