From Earth Day adventures to world-class wines and whole-hog barbecue, Charlotte has something for everyone this weekend. Whether you're exploring 2,100 acres of greenway, sipping your way through The Grand Tasting, or cheering on pitmasters at the Carolina BBQ Festival, the city is serving up a memorable few days.

Anne Springs Close Greenway Earth Day Celebration

  • What: Free Earth Day fun across 2,100 scenic acres
  • When: Saturday, April 18, 2026, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Where: Anne Springs Close Greenway, 2573 Lake Haigler Drive, Fort Mill, South Carolina
  • Cost: Free admission

The Anne Springs Close Greenway Earth Day Celebration weekend will feature a free community event across its 2,100 acres. Programming runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and includes guided hikes, reptile encounters, children's farm activities, lead-line horse rides, canoeing and fishing clinics, and hands-on conservation opportunities. Kayak rentals are also free from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday. Members receive complimentary access throughout the weekend. Some activities require advance registration or payment.

Charlotte Wine + Food Week: The Grand Tasting

  • What: Wines, bites, and live music
  • When: Saturday, April 18, 2026, from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. (early admission at 6:30 p.m.)
  • Where: The Union at Station West, 919 Berryhill Road, Charlotte
  • Cost: General admission $150/person; early admission $175/person

The Grand Tasting is the flagship event of Charlotte Wine + Food Week, offering more than 100 curated wines from around the globe alongside food from Charlotte's culinary community. The walk-around tasting also features a mobile auction preview with 50-plus wine and experience lots, live music from the J'Michael Peeples Band, and a mixology feature. All food and beverages are included in the ticket price. Guests must be 21 or older.

Carolina BBQ Festival

  • What: Whole-hog BBQ and 30+ pitmasters, all for a cause
  • When: Friday, April 17, 2026, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.; Saturday, April 18, 2026, from noon to 4 p.m. (VIP entry at 11 a.m.)
  • Where: Victoria Yards (and adjacent parking lot), 209 E. Seventh St., Charlotte
  • Cost: Friday Kickoff Event $35; adult VIP entry $125; child (7-13) VIP entry $25; general admission adult $75; children 6 and under are free

Now in its fifth year, the Carolina BBQ Festival celebrates the tradition of whole-hog barbecue over two days at Victoria Yards in Uptown Charlotte, in partnership with Charlotte SHOUT! and benefiting Operation BBQ Relief. Friday's Kickoff features tastings from local BBQ spots, live music, and a DJ, while Saturday's main festival offers tasting plates from 25 pitmaster stations, with whole hog, brisket, chicken, hash and rice, seafood, and more. An on-site brick pit showcases the heritage of whole-hog cooking, and a raffle supports Operation BBQ Relief.
