Raising Cane's submitted paperwork for two spots around Charlotte. A spokesperson says the chain hasn't locked in plans yet.
Documents popped up in Cabarrus County and Mecklenburg County files during the past several months, suggesting the chicken tender chain might be eyeing the region.
One Cabarrus County submission from February asks for a traffic study at 8041 Concord Mills Blvd. The filing calls it "Raising Cane's Concord." Another document at that same 1.83-acre property mentions the Texas-based restaurant in connection with early sewer allocation requests.
Over in Mecklenburg County, a July filing named "Raising Cane's Hydrant Flow Testing" points to 10915 Carolina Place Parkway — a spot where Buca di Beppo used to operate.
When asked about these addresses, a spokesperson for the chain said she didn't see confirmed restaurant plans there. She said she'd check with the real estate team, per WSOC-TV.
The restaurant serves hand-battered chicken tenders and crinkle-cut fries. It runs spots across the country from Texas headquarters.
Traffic analyses and hydrant tests happen early when chains scout sites. These initial steps help developers figure out if a property can handle a new restaurant before they commit real money.
That Concord Mills Boulevard property is near one of the busiest shopping zones in Cabarrus County. The Carolina Place Parkway address sits in Pineville, just south of Charlotte.
Filing documents doesn't mean restaurants will open. Chains submit paperwork for many sites while they weigh which ones make sense.
Charlotte has watched several chicken chains move in or grow bigger lately, so these filings hint the Texas operation might be sizing up the market for expansion.
