The Charlotte Area Transit System will break ground this month on a Blue Line station in South End. The station sits between Remount Road and Tremont Drive.

Plans call for a track crossing between Publix and Cortland South End. Crews will also build a Rail Trail section, fix sidewalks, and upgrade trackwork, according to a statement by the Charlotte Area Transit System.

CATS scheduled two meetings to discuss how construction might affect residents, businesses, and riders. The first happens Monday, March 9, from 5 to 7 p.m. at The Charlotte Urban Design Center – South End Studio in an open house setup.

A second meeting streams Tuesday, March 10, at 12:30 p.m. on the transit agency's YouTube channel.

Staff will review construction impacts during both sessions. People can ask questions and learn about what changes are coming.

The station will serve the expanding neighborhood with new infrastructure. Work begins in late March.

Those with questions can contact customer service at 704-336-7433. Translation services are available at no charge through the same phone number or by email at telltransit@charlottenc.gov.

The city doesn't discriminate based on disability. Residents can request accommodations at no cost through the customer service line.

More information about the South End Station project appears on the city's website, where construction updates will show timeline shifts and possible disruptions.
