After a three-year break, Soul Gastrolounge opens its doors at The Pass in NoDa on Aug. 25. The much-missed spot now fills 4,700 square feet of space, marking a fresh start since leaving Plaza Midwood.

At 4100 Raleigh St., the new site fits 221 guests inside. A cozy patio adds space for 30 more, while a tucked-away dining section stands ready for special gatherings.

Chef Shiki Brewer steps up to lead the kitchen, bringing skills from The Crunkleton and TV fame as a Guy's Grocery Games finalist. The staff includes trusted veteran Wanda Orick as Executive Sous Chef, with Joe Thu crafting sushi creations.

Bits of the past shine through in the new space. The striking stuffed peacock still watches over guests, while Tattoo's signature mirror finds a fresh home. Scott Weaver put his stamp on the look, as Cluck Design drew up plans and Gais built it all.

Star mixologist Stevie Laws, named Diageo's best in the U.S., mixes drinks with Jacob Taylor at his side. Yuri Oliviera moves from Napa on Providence to run the floor, while Jeff Jennings keeps watch over it all.

Since 2009, when it first lit up Central and Pecan avenues, the spot has mixed world tastes with local flair. Its name tips a hat to the mix of food traditions brought by Charlotte's newcomers.

The beats go on with DJs That Guy Smitty and Shanti Love spinning tracks. Fresh faces Suadade and See Bird Go join old hand Scott Weaver behind the decks.

Doors open 5 to 11 p.m. Sunday through Thursday. Weekend hours stretch till midnight. Want in? Book through Tock.
