Kendrick Lamar Sweeps with 5 Grammy Awards, Including Song of the Year
In a remarkable night at the 2025 Grammy Awards, Kendrick Lamar walked away with five awards, as “Not Like Us” earned Song of the Year. These wins brought his total Grammy collection to 22.
The evening shined as he dominated every category he was up for. He secured Record of the Year, Best Music Video, Best Rap Song, and Best Rap Performance – a complete victory that amazed the crowd.
“Nothing more powerful than rap music,” said Lamar during his acceptance speech.
But the celebration comes with controversy. Drake has launched a defamation suit against Universal Music Group regarding the song’s release.
His music video shows Whitney’s signature Crip walk, which he brought up while accepting another award. Speaking candidly, he acknowledged his Compton roots and West Coast connections.
Many were surprised by his dominance in the major categories. His track was ahead of favorites Taylor Swift and Charli XCX for Record of the Year.
In between awards, he shared wisdom with upcoming artists. His message resonated about honoring the craft. He gave quick shoutouts to his collaborators Mustard and Dave Free.
Now, Lamar awaits to take on New Orleans as he performs at the Super Bowl Halftime Show this Sunday.
