Bookstores are wonderful places. You can go to a bookstore, and each member of your family can separate in a different direction depending on their interest.

Whether it be fiction or nonfiction, something scary, or maybe a travel book there’s really something for everyone in a bookstore.

Bookstores could also be a place where you can meet your favorite author, as many authors host book signing events at bookstores and let fans get a moment with them.

Nowadays, bookstores are social places, and many of them have Starbucks or other coffee shops where you can get pastries, sip coffee, and read your favorite book.

And let’s not forget the magazines; bookstores have more magazine variety than any other place. You can’t quite get that many magazines to choose from at the grocery store. While so many magazines are online, sometimes it’s still good to pick up a copy and physically turn the pages.

There are huge chain bookstores which are fun. But don't forget about the mom-and-pop bookstores that we all adore.

Let’s take a look at some bookstores Charlotte has to offer.

Park Road Books

Since 1977, Park Road Books has been the cornerstone of independent bookstores in Charlotte, North Carolina. Located in the Park Road Shopping Center, they have been independently owned and operated for 41 years, and today are the only full-service independent bookstore in Charlotte.

Upcoming events at Park Road Books:

On October 5 they launch there’s a book launch with author Kimberly Wilson.
A book signing on October 12 with Diane Lyon.
Dog Wizard: teaching your dog to read on October 19.

Julia’s Café & Books

Julia’s Café & Books exists to support the community, not only through caffeine and reading materials but also through the funding of Habitat for Humanity of the Charlotte Region’s mission of building homes, communities, and hope in the area.

Their book departments include, but are certainly not limited to: art, cooking, crafts and hobbies, fiction, gardening, health, history, memoirs, religion, social sciences, and a huge children’s section.

That's Novel Books

Located in Camp North End, That's Novel Books is a revitalized industrial park, their used bookshop offers a wide selection of formerly-loved books for you, as well as a small selection of new books written by local Charlotte authors.

Upcoming event at That's Novel Books:
