North Carolina Has One of the World’s Most Affordable Private Islands
Have you ever wanted to own your own private island? It’s not a typical dream, but some do dream of having their own secluded paradise. I remember growing up, one of my friend’s families had their own little island. It was super small, but it was still amazing to think that they could vacation to their very own island and get away from it all. Well, North Carolina has one of the world’s most affordable private islands. Here’s the scoop.
Slingo.com has released a list of the most affordable private islands in the world. “Many of us working a standard nine-to-five job wonder and wish at the prospect of being incomprehensibly rich,” they state. “To own a super flashy car, the finest clothes you could ask for, perhaps even your own private island.” But, maybe you don’t have to be super rich to own an island.
Slingo, one of the U.K.’s leading bingo sites, researched the prices of the private islands currently available for purchase. “This allowed us to see where in the world it is the most affordable for you to buy a private island of your own,” they explain. They also looked at the average cost of a private island against the cost of a U.K. home. So, what’s the result?
World’s Most Affordable Private Islands
The most affordable island in the world is La Cornelia Island in Nicaragua. Its market price is £70,829, which is about $90,000. Not bad for your own island. “The island already has electricity, despite it being undeveloped, and is rich with palm and mango trees,” Slingo adds. Nice. One North Carolina island made the cut. It’s The Carolina Cayes, which came in at No. 8 on this list, tied with Sweetheart Island in Florida. Moreover, the Cayes run about £314,009, which is about $400,000 dollars.
