From Southern classics that we probably started to adding our own flare to recipes that we learn, the South is all about good food. South Carolina is known for many different types of food. From good seafood to classic southern dishes, there are many treats that are a staple in South Carolina. But, what is one of the most iconic foods in South Carolina?
Of course, the Food Network just had to tell us. So, we're taking a look at the most iconic food in South Carolina. Got your guesses ready? Well, it's she-crab soup! That's right, the Food Network says that this is the most iconic food in South Carolina and I can't argue because it is a staple. In almost every restaurant we visit when my aunt is visiting Charleston, she always wants an order of she-crab soup. It's her favorite soup by far! This Carolina classic dish is similar to bisque and typically blends cream, fresh crabmeat, red-orange roe, and a little bit of sherry. The dish is a big staple in the Lowcountry parts of South Carolina such as Charleston and even the Hilton Head area.
She-crab soup is one of those recipes that you can copy all you want but until you have had it down in the Lowcountry, then it won't taste the same.
