Granddaughter’s Video Of South Carolina Family Farm Goes Viral
When 23 year old Zakaya Butler posted a video on social media of her grandfathers farm in Sumter, SC she had no idea they’d get this much attention. The little known Martin Farm Meats which is about 20 minutes from downtown Sumter, is now known nationwide.
According to the company’s website, Samuel Martin has been running the farm for the last decade. He wife recently passed away, and he wasn’t sure how he’d keep the farm alive on his own. In stepped his granddaughter, Zakaya.
Local S.C. television station WLTX interviewed the two. “I needed some help and I just was wondering who would come around and extend the invitation,” Martin said. He believes the Lord sent his granddaughter to help. And help she did. One of the first tasks in marketing she did was post a video of her grandfathers farm on Facebook and TikTok.
It worked. The video has over 500,000 views. And according to the grandfather and granddaughter team the phone calls came, too. They’ve been getting several calls asking about their meat and fresh produce. Martin says he’s almost sold out of his product.
The two have been working nearly around the clock — six days a week 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Next, Martin plans to get a sign soon to put out in front so people will know they are at the right place.
