Charlotte Welcomes First Selfie Museum At Former Epicentre
It’s a first for the Queen City in Uptown. Charlotte’s Epicentre has it’s first selfie museum. “Portal CLT” art museum opened it’s doors April 1.
It’s one of a handful of new tenants in the former Epicentre Uptown. It has now been rebranded to Queen City Quarter. Portal CLT as it’s website says, is an ‘Instragrammable’ art museum. It’s a picture playground. The owner, Carole Hall says it’s an art gallery that you can immerse yourself in. And there are tons of opportunities to take a selfie.
It is a social media influencer’s fantasy. Here they you can create fun photos with incredible props and scenes. It’s a great spot for group gatherings. Whether it’s for families, friends, Bachelor/Bachelorette parties or even corporate events, it can be a fun time to create and explore.
Selfie Museums – Where Are They?
The concept of a selfie museum isn’t new. There are selfie museums all over the country that have opened in the past few years, including two others in and around the Queen City.
Picture Project CLT is black-owned and opened their doors over a year ago. There is a selfie museum in Concord, and was called the Original Home of the 90’s. The museum has had quite the upgrade. It is now a 3800 square foot space that includes over 40 areas of wall to wall 90’s designs. Its website says they all are hand painted by local artists! And finally, there is the Candid Selfie Museum in Mt. Holly. It closed its doors last November.
