Charlotte Leader Calling for Justice In the Shanquella Robinson Case
It’s been five months since 26-year-old Shanquella Robinson’s death in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. She was vacationing with six other friends last October when a video of her ‘friends’ attacking her went viral. Those ‘friends’ would tell Shanquella’s parents she had too much to drink, but an autopsy would later determine she died from neck injuries.
Local civil rights leader John C. Barnette and others are pushing forward to get justice for Shanquella. None of the six ‘friends’ have been charged. Barnette says the push has to be steady. He agrees with activist Tameka Mallory who says Shanquella’s case should receive “white woman treatment.”
I got a chance to talk to Barnette to explain what that means. He also gave an update on what is happening with the case and what can be expected next.
