14-Year-Old North Carolina Teen Killed In First Rodeo (Video)
Denim Bradshaw’s mother says it was his first rodeo competition in North Carolina. The 14-year-old died Saturday evening after getting kicked off of a bull he was riding in the rodeo.
It happened in King, NC — about 15 miles outside of Winston-Salem. WFMY News reports the teen had just mounted the bull, when the bull bucked twice throwing Bradshaw to the ground. He landed under the animal’s hooves.
One onlooker described what he saw when the bull attacked the teen. He says the bull stomped on the boy’s chest. The boy took a couple of steps then collapsed. Fox News reports Stokes County EMS arrived in response to a cardiac arrest. Paramedics attempted to do save Denim, but the teenager died.
Denim’s mom, Shannon Bowman announced his death on Facebook.
Meanwhile, his sister started a GoFundMe to help raise money to cover funeral costs. She says, “He got to ride his first bull on January 28th, and his excitement was palpable. None of us could believe that this first ride would cause his death, and we are beyond devastated.”
The rodeo organizer Rafter K Rodeo Company, LLC shared the company’s condolences on Facebook on Sunday.
According to Denim’s mom, he loved every second of riding a bull. She added, ” I never seen him so happy as I had seen him last night before his departure.”
