Tory Lanez Faces 3rd Felony Charge In Megan Thee Stallion Case: Report

Tory Lanez is reportedly facing a third felony charge as jury deliberations begin for his upcoming trial. The newly reported additional felony is for negligent discharge of a firearm, where he allegedly shot Megan Thee Stallion in a drunken dispute back in 2020.

Lanez, whose real name is Daystar Peterson, is also facing charges of assault with a semiautomatic firearm and carrying a loaded and unregistered firearm, according to TMZ. Following the August 2020 incident, the rapper has pleaded not guilty to the charges and has publicly denied shooting Megan.

Since the incident two years ago, the rappers have been going back and forth on social media and subliminally calling one another out in their music. One month after the shooting, the Houston native called Lanez out on a since-deleted Instagram Live video per Rolling Stone. “Yes, this n—- Tory shot me. You shot me, and you got your publicist and your people to these blogs lying and s—, stop lying!” she said. “Stop lying. Why lie? I don’t understand. I tried to keep the situation off the internet, but you’re dragging it.”

Fans suggested that Lanez seemingly called out Megan in his song “Mucky James” which had the lines: “I’m starting to give like zero f—- about how it’s going down/They try to blackball me for money but I ain’t going out/I told myself I’ll stop this bulls— and not speak up more.” And, “I was at a high in my career, you think I’d come out here and — /And if you think I’d do that s—, you on some stupid s—/I don’t need to do that s—… I can’t lie temporarily that b—- came and ruin s—… Hey, Tory, stop talking about it, I wish I could but dawg/I’m only human, sometimes that s— be gettin’ to me.” The rapper denied that the song was about Megan, which dropped in April.

The “Say It” rapper was let off of house arrest this week. Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge David Herriford told the court his reasoning behind the decision. “The main reason is that during trial, it’s difficult to have a client who’s not accessible. I’m doing this mainly for the trial preparation aspect,” he said per RS. He added that the “Say It” singer’s $350,000 bond in the case will still stand.

Jury selection has begun, and opening statements are set for next week.

Lanez’s attorney, George Mgdesyan, told TMZ, “We are confident that at the conclusion of this trial the truth will come out and Mr. Peterson will be exonerated of all charges.”
