One North Carolina college student won't have to worry about paying his student loan after graduation. That's thanks to rapper, and singer-songer writer Pharrell Williams who is paying off his student loan.

Damarius Davis is a recent grad of my alma mater, North Carolina A&T State University. He is one of five HBCU graduates Pharrell says he will pay off their student loans. Pharrell made the announcement while on a recent NAACP panel in D.C. during the Something In The Water festival.

The other students include Southern University junior Robyn Hughes, Norfolk State University graduate Jamie Turner, Howard University senior Channing Hill, and Florida A&M University senior Devan Vilfrard.

The video from the event shows Davis' surprise. Personally, I was glad to see him rock his  “Proud Aggie Alumni” shirt!

“I can say for me, I don’t know, just listening to everybody and everything,” Davis said after getting the news. “I literally had to work three jobs my freshman year just to survive and everything. My parents were struggling so just to have this so just that is, I’m so grateful right now. I appreciate y’all so much. Thank you.”
