New “Hunger Games” Movie Teaser Is Just That
One of the most unexpectedly exciting moments at the movies I can remember as an adult was when we went to see the first “Hunger Games” film. We knew ZERO about the popular book series, other than the girl who kept an eye on our son while we were at work, was ALL IN on them.
And she told us for a week that we HAD to see the movie on opening night. Okay, whatever. We walked into the cinema at Stonecrest and could not believe the mayhem we were witnessing. There were lines to get into every theater that it was playing on (and that was like, 6 theaters). Just crazy. And the movie (and its subsequent sequels) was awesome. So, when I woke up this morning to a notification about a new teaser trailer for “The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes,” I clicked the link immediately.
First, I had no idea there was even another movie in the offing. This is apparently the tale of Coriolanus Snow (Donald Sutherland in the original films) before he came to the presidency of Panem; and also of Lucy Gray Baird, a tribute from District 12 in the 10th annual Hunger Games (for reference, Jennifer Lawrence’s character Katniss Everdeen was District 12’s tribute in the 74th and 75th Games). The official synopsis for the film is as follows: “Years before he would become the tyrannical President of Panem, 18-year-old Coriolanus Snow is the last hope for his fading lineage, a once-proud family that has fallen from grace in a post-war Capitol.” Okay, I’m all in. Only, we’ve got to wait until November of NEXT YEAR! Secondly, this is the very definition of “teaser trailer.” There’s not one piece of filmed action in it, BUT…is it just me or did this remind you a lot of all the “Winter is Coming” teasers for “Game of Thrones” BITD?
