New Show Honoring Hip Hop Legends and More
The Charlotte Mecklenburg School Board of Education named Hugh Hattabaugh as the interim superintendent of CMS after Superintendent Earnest Winston’s contract was terminated. Black Restaurant Week begins Friday and ends on Sunday. As part of the Legacy Commission’s street renaming project, two Charlotte streets are getting new names. Beginning May 23, Barringer Drive will be renamed to Revolution Park Drive and on June 30, Stonewall Street will be renamed Brooklyn Village Avenue.
SPORTS West Charlotte High School will forfeit all 2021-2022 football games due to an ineligible athlete. The school will return any money earned from playoff games and pay a $250 fine. This is the second CMS school with player ineligibility issues leading to a forfeited season.
ENTERTAINMENT Ben Affleck and Matt Damon are writing and producing a movie about Nike’s legendary deal with Michael Jordan. 50 Cent is calling on fans to cancel their Starz subscription because Season 1 of Power Book lV: Force has ended and he wont have a new show on Starz for the next six months, and finally the A&E Network will air an eight-episode docuseries titled ‘Origins of Hip Hop’. The series will tell the stories of rap greats including Fat Joe, Busta Rhymes, Eve, Ice T, Uncle Luke and Lil Jon.
