Charlotte Light Rail

Operates 7 days a week, running from I-485 at South Boulevard to UNC Charlotte Main Station.

A new change is coming soon to Charlotte public transportation.  Thousands rely on the city's busses and light rail to get around each month and that is about to get more affordable for some. According to Channel 9's Joe Bruno riders who use the CATs (Charlotte Area Transporation) app will pay no more than $88 a month. A one-way ticket is $2.20 currently, while a weekly pass is $30.80. But riders who choose those options instead of the monthly pass will automatically be upgraded to a monthly pass once they have spent $88.

The change is expected in the coming months and is aimed at benefitting riders who don't have the cash to purchase a monthly pass at once. The change does not need to be approved by City Council. The Charlotte transportation app is currently being updated to support this rollout.
