Cardi B Withdraws From ‘Assisted Living’ Days Before The Film Was Set To Begin Shooting
Cardi B has decided to withdraw from her role in the film Assisted Living just days before it was set to start shooting in New York.
Sources tell Deadline that, Paramount Players has pulled the plug on its comedy feature after the Grammy-winning rapper stepped away due to being overextended at this time.
The “Up” rapper was to play a low-level criminal on the run after finding she has been wrongly accused of a crime. The character chooses to prove her innocence by staying at her grandmother’s retirement home until the ordeal blows over and wears old-lady prosthetics to fit in.
The outlet reports that rather than pursuing legal action against Cardi for dropping out so late in the process, the studio, Paramount Players, hopes to try again later this year.
Assisted Living was going to be Cardi’s first lead role in a film following her film debut in Hustlers and later featuring in Fast 9 in 2019 and 2021, respectively.
