Biden Nominates Ketanji Brown Jackson To Supreme Court
Friday, President Joe Biden nominated Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to the U.S. Supreme Court. This will make her the first African American woman to sit on the high court bench. Jackson currently sits on DC’s federal appellate court and has been considered the front runner for the vacancy since Justice Stephen Breyer announced his retirement. Born in D.C. but raised in Miami, Jackson graduated from Harvard Law School and served as a federal public defender. She would be the first public defender to serve on the U.S. Supreme Court and the first since Thurgood Marshall to have criminal defense experience.
