North Carolina Man Win $1 Million In New Lottery Game
A North Carolina man has become the first winner on a new lottery game. Asheboro’s Rodney Freeman became the first $1 million prize winner of the $10 Big Cash Payout. Freeman says he now knows his family will be taken care of. He told lottery officials “it’s important to take care of life’s biggest blessings: family,” Freeman said. “I’ve always worked to take care of my wife and four kids. This win, it’s a true blessing.”
Freeman, who works for the North Carolina Department of Transportation worker, stopped at the Hammond’s BP on Old N.C. 49 in Asheboro where he and his wife purchased the winning ticket. He scratched his winning $10 Big Cash Payout ticket and said both he and his wife were speechless when they saw what happened.
He claimed his prize at lottery headquarters on Monday. He elected to take the lump-sum amount of $600,000 and, after required state and federal tax withholdings, took home $424,503.
The new Big Cash Payout lottery game launched in December with four $1 million top prizes. Three $1 million top prizes remain to be claimed.
