West Charlotte High Moves To Remote Learning Due To Shooting
West Charlotte High School students and teachers experienced a scary situation yesterday. On Monday afternoon, a fight between two students over a bookbag turned into a gunshot outside of West Charlotte High School.
One person was treated for minor injuries. These injuries were not from gunfire. Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools have experienced several serious incidents involving students and weapons this year.
Police in Charlotte-Mecklenburg said a juvenile was charged with possessing a firearm in a school zone later that day. It appears that only one suspect is responsible for the incident.
The high school’s Twitter account said Tuesday would be an asynchronous learning day. Remote classes are scheduled for today, December 14th, 2021. According to the Charlotte Observer, after the gunfire Crime Stoppers will increase the reward for reporting a firearm on campus that leads to an arrest or weapon seizure from $250 to $500.
