Would You Try Turkey Flavored Ice Cream For Thanksgiving?
Who doesn’t love a good waffle cone full of ice cream? It’s always so much fun sampling and figuring out just what flavor you want. And we’ve all seen some flavors that we can’t believe were thought of. But this may be some of the most interesting flavors I’ve seen yet. Yes even knowing we told you about Kraft Mac & Cheese flavored ice cream this summer. The ice cream brand Salt & Straw recently unveiled their Friendsgiving flavors. And while some sound incredible- pumpkin and gingersnap pie yes please- others, like turkey ice cream, I’d have to taste to believe.
The Friendsgiving Menu features:
- Parker House Rolls w/ Salted Buttercream
- Candied Walnut Cheesecake
- Caramelized Turkey & Cranberry Sauce
- Sweet Potato Pie w/ Double Baked Almond Streusel
- Pumpkin & Gingersnap Pie (v)
The most interesting of those has to be the Carmelizaed Turkey and Cranberry Sauce Ice Cream. I can’t begin to wrap my head around what that would taste like! Salt & Straw describes the treat as featuring roasted turkey bacon from Diestel Farms tucked it into a savory, buttery brittle with thyme and freshly ground cubeb pepper. The bacon imparts a deliciously smoky, salty flavor that joins our housemade cranberry sauce—sweet and jammy, with a pleasant tartness to cut through the sides of savory.
Here is the inspiration behind the flavors from Salt & Straw’s website:
When we get right down to it, Friendsgiving is about coming together to share a bit of who we are, while bringing new life to old traditions. It’s piles of food covering the table in a mish-mash of hand-me-down Pyrex dishes. Cozy spices filling the air and warm laughter emanating from every corner of your gathering space. It’s sharing the pie that reminds you of your great Grandma or the stuffing your dad always used to make. Maybe it’s the dueling of the casseroles: you’re a bit more green bean while your friend is die-hard sweet potato. This year, gather your loved ones and join in our Friendsgiving feast.
The whole collection can be purchased for $65 online or the individual flavor pints are available for $13.
