30 Years Of The Same Numbers A Huntersville Man Has Won The Lottery
It was a Happy Halloween for Antonios Gioulis. The Huntersville man has been playing the same five lottery numbers since the 1980s. They finally paid off on Halloween night 2021. And in a big way. Those numbers will also keep paying him as Gioulis won a $25,000 a Year for Life prize.“These are the numbers I randomly picked,” said Gioulis, a banker with Wells Fargo. “I just stuck with them. I played the very first lottery week in Pennsylvania with these numbers, and I won a thousand bucks.”
He actually purchased the ticket online using the lottery’s website. He matched all five white balls on his Lucky for Life ticket in Sunday’s drawing. “We had a great Halloween,” said Gioulis. “The kids were coming to the house and I said, ‘What the heck, let me play the numbers.’”
What Gioulis won was the second-tier prize. Those winners are guaranteed $25,000 a Year for Life. Winners also have the option to claim the prize as a lump sum of $390,000 which Gioulis chose. After federal and state tax withholdings, he took home $275,926. The Hunterville man plans to use a portion of his lottery winnings to take his family to Greece, Albania, and Italy to introduce his children to their Mediterranean heritage for the first time. Other money will be put away for retirement and donated to charity.
